INGREDIENTS

Donuts:
1 ¼ cups flour
½ tsp baking powder
½ tsp baking soda
¼ tsp salt
¾ cup sugar
1 cup full fat sour cream
¼ cup vegetable oil
1 large egg
1 tsp LorAnn Oils Super-Strength Washington Cherry Flavor
1 tsp LorAnn Oils Vanilla Extract
12–15 drops LorAnn Oils Red Liquid Food Coloring
½ cup mini chocolate chips
Glaze:
1 ½ cups powdered sugar
4–5 Tbsp hot water (add enough water to achieve a medium-thick glaze)
LorAnn Oils Red Liquid Food Coloring, optional

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Spray donut pan with nonstick cooking spray and set aside. 
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside. 
  3. In a large mixing bowl, or bowl of a stand mixer fitted with the paddle attachment, combine the sugar, sour cream, oil, egg, LorAnn Oils Washington Cherry Flavor, LorAnn Oils Vanilla Extract, and LorAnn Oils Red Liquid Food Coloring. Mix on medium speed for one minute. 
  4. Fold in flour mixture until no streaks of flour remain (batter will be lumpy). Gently fold in chocolate chips. 
  5. Spoon batter into donut pan, about 2/3 full. Bake 11–14 minutes, or until donuts spring back when touched. Remove from oven and let cool on a rack. 
  6. To make the glaze, combine powdered sugar, hot water, and LorAnn Oils Red Liquid Food Coloring in a small bowl. When donuts are cool enough to touch, but still warm, remove from pan and place on a sheet of parchment or wax paper. Dip tops of warm donuts into glaze, or spoon over tops. Store cooled donuts in airtight containers for up to two days. To refresh, heat in microwave for five seconds.

These donuts are just the right amount of cherry. I love that these are baked, not fried.
