A mild, nutty flavor popular in Mediterranean baked goods. Think Baklava or Spumoni! Pistachio flavor (also referred to as candy flavoring oil) is great added to desserts to impart a nutty flavor. Substitute Pistachio flavor in any recipe that calls for a nut flavoring such as almond, pecan, or walnut.

1 dram = about 1 teaspoon

Appropriate for use in chocolates and coatings (typical use is ¼ to ½ teaspoon per pound)

A little goes a long way!  LorAnn’s super strength flavors (also known as candy oils or flavoring oils) are three to four times the strength of typical baking extracts. 

Typical uses: hard candy, general candy making, cakes, cookies, frosting, ice cream and a wide variety of other baking and confectionery applications. 

Note: When substituting super strength flavors for extracts, use ¼ to ½ teaspoon for 1 teaspoon of extract.

I'm sorry, but it's terrible

I didn't get any pistachio flavor from this. I love pistachio, almond, etc., but this actually made me spit it out. I even struggled to rid the taste from my tongue. No, I didn't taste it full strength. I know better than that.

Pistachio is quite strong and is best used sparingly. We have several popular recipes that use the Pistachio flavor, such as Pistachio Cupcakes (item R0078) and Pistachio Thumbprint Cookies (item R0150). You will notice the cookie recipe only calls for 1/8 tsp. Perhaps you would enjoy the flavor in one of these recipes. Thanks again!

This is one of the FEW extracts that is actually 4x and you need to follow the directions with. Even in high fat icecream bases and in baked goods. START off very little with this as they suggest and adjust up in very small increments. Dead on if used right, too much and you hit a chemical flavor.
