INGREDIENTS

1/2 pound butter, melted
2 cups sugar
6 eggs
4 1/2 - 5 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 1/2 teaspoons LorAnn Anise Oil

DIRECTIONS

In a large mixing bowl, combine melted butter and sugar; beat well. Add eggs, one at a time, beating thoroughly after each addition. Add anise oil. Gradually add flour and baking powder.

Bake in a pizzelle baker until light brown.

Makes about 6 dozen cookies.

Variation: Try using LorAnn Lemon Oil instead of the Traditional Anise Oil.

I've been making these for over 55 years. My recipe varies depending on equip...I use double stainless (no more single cast iron and hate the teflon brand). My variations are 1-1/2 sugar, 1/2 cup veg oil, 3-4 cup flour, no baking powder, 1/8 tsp vanilla-2 tbs of Anise Oil...we like ours strong!
