White Chocolate Maple Cookies

These delicious cookies can be made with other LorAnn flavors as well. Try pralines and cream, black walnut, amaretto or pecan flavoring. Walnuts or almonds can also be substituted for the pecan nuts in the recipe.

INGREDIENTS

1/2 cup butter or margarine softened
1 cup vegetable shortening
2 cups packed brown sugar
2 eggs
1 teaspoon LorAnn Madagascar Vanilla Extract
1 teaspoon LorAnn Maple Super Strength Flavoring
3 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking soda
2 cups chopped Vanilla Flavored Candy Wafers coarsely chopped (or other white chocolate)
1/2 cup chopped pecans
Maple Flavored Frosting (recipe follows)

Maple Flavored Frosting:
1/4 cup butter or margarine, softened
4 cups confectioners' sugar
1 teaspoon LorAnn Maple Super Strength Flavoring
4 to 6 Tablespoons of milk
3-1/2 cups pecan halves

DIRECTIONS

In a mixing bowl, cream the shortening, butter and brown sugar. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Beat in vanilla and flavoring. Combine the flour and baking soda; gradually add to creamed mixture. Stir in white chocolate pieces and pecans.

Drop by rounded tablespoonfuls, 2 inches apart onto ungreased baking sheets. Bake at 350°F. for 8–10 minutes or until golden brown. Cool for 2 minutes before removing to wire racks.

For frosting: In a mixing bowl, cream butter and confectioners' sugar. Beat in flavoring and enough milk to achieve spreading consistency. Frost cooled cookies. Top each with a pecan half.

Yield: about 6 dozen cookies.
