Pure and natural menthol crystals are derived from steam distilled peppermint oil.

Methol's refreshing aroma and cooling action have led to its widespread use in balms, liniments, rubs and other personal care products. Also used extensively in steam-rooms - place crystals in a bowl for menthol aromatherapy; do not place directly on sauna rocks.

Menthol crystals act as a local anesthetic and will give that "cool" feeling when applied to the skin.  Mixes well with camphor, clove and wintergreen.  Use at a rate of 3% or less in cosmetic recipes.
