RECIPE TIP:  When pine cones lose their scent, simply follow steps 2 & 3 to re-fragrance.

INGREDIENTS

Pine cones
Fragrance Oil of your choice
(Cinnamon super-strength flavoring can also be used)

DIRECTIONS

  1. If pine cones are sticky with sap, place on a foil or parchment lined baking sheet and heat in a 200ºF oven for 30 to 45 minutes until pine cones open up. Heating will dry the sap and kill any bugs that may still be in the pine cones.
  2. Place pine cones in gallon sized zip-top bags and add 1/2 teaspoon fragrance oil per bag.
  3. Seal bag and shake to distribute oil. Allow pine cones to sit at least 1 week, turning bag once or twice. The longer cones are left in the bag, the stronger the scent will be.
  4. Display on a non-porous tray or bowl with greens, if desired.
