Our Cherry Flavoring works well with Chocolate too! Here is a fun recipe, Choco-Cherry "Chizzler" Cupcakes that showcases chocolate and cherry!

For more information on how much flavoring to use, please see our  Suggested Usage Table.

A little goes a long way!  LorAnn’s super strength flavors (also known as candy oils or flavoring oils) are three to four times the strength of typical baking extracts.

Typical uses: hard candy, general candy making, cakes, cookies, frosting, ice cream and a wide variety of other baking and confectionery applications.

Note: When substituting super strength flavors for extracts, use ¼ to ½ teaspoon for 1 teaspoon of extract.

See the About our Flavors page for safe handling tips, FAQs, and more information.

Cough Syrup
December 20, 2020
I was so excited for this, but the extract smells strongly of cough syrup, and anything you add it to tastes like cough syrup, too. So much so that it literally makes me nauseous. So disappointed. Now second guessing the 3 other flavors I just bought from this brand.

LorAnn's Response: Hello, KC. Yes, this flavor does have more of a medicinal cherry flavor that is very popular in hard candy. We're sorry you don't enjoy it. If you are looking for more of a sweet cherry flavor, try our Washington cherry or our black cherry.

Yuck!
April 30, 2018
This cherry extract smells and tastes exactly like cough syrup. I tried to put a small amount in my morning smoothie and it was disgusting!

LorAnn's Response: Hello, Jessica! Thank you for taking the time to provide us with feedback. We are sorry that you weren't happy with the Cherry Super Strength. Yes, this particular cherry flavoring does have more of a medicinal taste. We recommend using only 1/8 tsp for a 16 oz smoothie. Adding more than what is recommended can certainly intensify that medicinal flavor. In our Super Strength Line, we do have a Black Cherry, which is also known as "sweet cherry." We also have a cherry in our Naturals line. Perhaps one of those will work out better for you.
